About licensio

I'm Malte Müller. I run a 3D print farm in Berlin. Plant Technology makes ventilation accessories for grow tents and sells them through its own shop, marketplaces and dealers.

Running a print farm taught me where 3D printing hurts. A printer makes one part at a time. Low cycle rates mean high unit costs, and the money is tied up long before anything is sold. You still need stock, packaging, shipping and a warehouse, just like any other manufacturer, only slower.

The files are the only part of the business that scales. A dealer with a printer can produce the same part in Berlin, Bologna or Boston. What was missing was a way to hand over the file like a product: with a contract, a price, approval of who gets it, a record of every download and a proper invoice.

So I built it for Plant Technology first. Dealers licensed the designs, printed them locally and sold them under their own label. No pallets, no customs, no stock. Then I made the same portal available to anyone who develops parts.

licensio is that portal. It is built and run by one person who uses it every day for his own company. If something is missing, it is usually because I have not needed it yet. Tell me.
